In the mid 70s I started collecting vinyl singles – remember them? At the time it was the only way to collect all your favourite songs.

One day in The Other Record Shop in Inverness I heard someone ask the guy behind the counter if he knew anyone who might be interested in Hospital Radio. I immediately declared an interest & was on air by July 1978. In all I presented shows for Radio Inverness, as it was called, for 12 years.

In the meantime MFR went on air in 1982, and I got involved with them within 2 or 3 months, presenting shows, operating the studio during outside broadcasts, standing in for DJs on holiday & continuity announcing (I kid you not!). I presented Sunday Breakfast for 11˝ years (1989 to 2001) and the Rock, Roots & Acoustic show for just over 11 years (2003 to 2014).

Radio is my hobby & I love finding and sharing good music, whether it’s a new song or an overlooked classic. Steve Earle once said there’s only two kinds of music – good or bad. I only play the best of what I call “music for grown ups”.
